"Full details are restricted by NDA, but the core strategy and research are documented here"
How do you turn "required reading" into delightful discovery?
Tasked with revitalizing a legacy LMS, I looked beyond the surface to fix the underlying friction in the user's journey. In 9 months, with new design system and navigational flow, we created "one-click" access to Learning, reducing process time by 84%
The major result ? Updated UX Strategy Shifted Employee Behavior : turning a platform of "have-to" tasks to a where users now self-initiate learning, increasing return rates by 34%

1.
Context
Reliance Industries has a workforce of over 0.4 million and our internal LMS provides a centralized platform for employees to access training materials.
However, this legacy LMS was outdated and we recognised the need for a smart & modern learning management system that will meet the evolving needs of the employees.

2.
What did we hear?
For Primary Research, we ran Surveys, 25+ interviews and contextual enquiries with Employees. The painpoints were made in to an Affinity Map to find patterns, create personas and extract actionable insights.

What was
critical?
The top 3 critical 'quotes' were identified for creating actionable insights
It is very difficult to find assigned courses- I end up asking my colleagues where to find it
UX
It looks really old- That grey background reminds me of old computers
UI
I use the platform once I get
e-mail reminders on course deadlines. Most courses I see are not relevant
User Behaviour

The Strategy: Use a mix of courses and mentorship to keep employees growing.
-
The Goal: Turn "PeopleFirst Learning" into a clean, personalized, and engaging platform.

6.
What did we do?
First we created the skeleton of user flow from for MVP. Detailed IA was created from this.

Updated
UX Strategy
We redefined the LMS UX to focus on three pillars:
clean UI, internal mentorship, and career incentives.
the key differentiator was human connection: providing direct access to experienced mentors.
By integrating networking, gamification, and linking certifications to appraisals and promotions, we transitioned the employee mindset from 'additional chore' to 'professional self-development,' significantly increasing platform return rates.
Structuring

We created basic structure of mobile screens followed by Desktop. Detailed UI screens were later developed. HomeScreen Structure is given below:
